Meet the nurse behind Home Vet Nurse

Katie Lunn is a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, with 16 years of experience across small animal first opinion practice and specialist hospital settings.

Katie spent 10 years at Champion Vets in Glasgow as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, followed by 5 years at Glasgow University Veterinary Hospital, working across multiple hospital disciplines including several years as an anaesthesia specialist nurse. That mix of busy first opinion practice and specialist hospital care shaped how she works today, calm and thorough, equally confident with a routine health check or a more involved piece of nursing care.

Katie set up Home Vet Nurse to bring that same standard of nursing care into people's homes. Working under your vet's direction when required, she carries out the nursing tasks that make the biggest difference between clinic visits: health checks, medication, wound care, palliative support and more, all without the stress of a waiting room. Many services don't require vet direction at all. When required, she works alongside your existing vet practice rather than replacing it, sharing notes after every visit so your vet stays fully in the loop.

Pet laser therapy

Katie is also a certified Pet laser therapist in the UK, accredited to use class 3b and 4 lasers on small animals. She has brought this to Home Vet Nurse, investing in both surface and deep tissue laser technology to support pets recovering from injury or surgery, or managing chronic conditions such as arthritis.

Fear Free handling

Katie is an advocate of Fear Free training, meaning every visit is built around keeping your pet calm and comfortable, at their own pace, in the place they feel safest: home.

Outside of work

When she's not out visiting pets, Katie is an avid hill walker. She has completed over 50% of Scotland's 282 Munros, mountains over 3,000 feet that draw walkers from across the country, and is steadily working her way through the rest of the list one weekend at a time. It's the same patience and steady pace she brings to nursing, just with better views. She's been known to drag other members of the Home Vet Nurse team up a hill or two as well, so don't be surprised if more than one fleece makes it to the summit. If you spot one, there's a good chance it's Katie.
