Before your visit
Everything you need to know before we arrive.
About your visit
Home Vet Nurse is a mobile veterinary nursing service. Our nurses are RCVS-registered and fully insured. We share our notes with your vet, and we're a nursing service, not a replacement for veterinary diagnosis or emergency care. If anything needs a vet's attention, we'll tell you straight away and help you get seen quickly.
The pet's owner needs to be at home for every visit, with one exception: our pet check-in visits can go ahead while you're away.
Booking
Use the live booking calendar on the homepage to book an instant slot, or get in touch by email, phone or WhatsApp and we'll confirm by hand, usually within an hour. You don't pay anything when you book. We don't take prepayment or deposits.
Cancellations and missed appointments
A 24 hour cancellation policy applies. Please let us know at least 24 hours before your appointment if you need to cancel or change it. You can reschedule or cancel using the links in your confirmation email, or by calling 07949 186871.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or nobody is home when we arrive, the same policy applies. We'll wait up to 15 minutes at your address before treating the visit as missed. We reserve the right to ask for prepayment on future bookings if the policy isn't adhered to.
Travel fees
Much of Glasgow and the surrounding area is covered free of charge, with a small travel surcharge further out. You can check your postcode with the coverage checker on our homepage for an instant answer, or contact us and we'll confirm it.
Out of hours
Home Vet Nurse is not an out of hours service, and all of our services are non-emergency. Upon request, and if available, we may attend an appointment outside our opening hours. If we do, a £20 out of hours fee is added to the price of the service. If your pet is unwell or injured and needs urgent care, please contact your vet or an emergency out of hours clinic straight away.
Payment
Payment is accepted by cash, bank transfer or all major credit and debit cards, including contactless and chip and PIN. Our prices are on the Services & Pricing page.
Medication and injections
Our nurses can give vet-prescribed medication and injections, including insulin, Librela and Solensia, on the schedule your vet has set.
